Steel drums are commonly employed as the primary packaging solution for liquid bitumen due to their durability and safety for both storage and transportation. However, it’s important to note that steel drums require significant storage space, and upon reaching their destination, clients must heat the drums to facilitate the removal of bitumen. Furthermore, for clients located in countries with stringent environmental protection policies, the disposal of empty drums can pose a substantial financial burden.
Flexitank for Bitumen
Jumbo Bags present a cost-effective alternative for transporting liquid bitumen. In a standard 20-foot container, it’s possible to accommodate 20 Jumbo bags, allowing for the shipment of 20 metric tons (MT) of bitumen within a single container. Notably, these Jumbo bags are typically designed to melt and blend seamlessly with the bitumen during the unloading process.
Due to the flexible nature of Jumbo bags used for transporting liquid bitumen, they must either be placed on the ground to allow the bitumen to cool down or inserted into a frame cage to contain the bitumen. This requirement significantly increases the warehousing and packaging costs associated with transporting bitumen via containers.
